WAFL

WAFL (Wednesdays at First Lutheran) offers a fantastic opportunity for children in kindergarten through sixth grade to come together for faith, fun, and friendship! Each Wednesday during the school year, kids enjoy a snack, music, a Bible story, hands-on activities, and community service projects—all guided by caring and engaged leaders.

Additionally, the WAFL program ensures that every local child is welcome; church membership is not required.

Living Hope Camp

To support our community, we offer care a couple of days each week for individuals who cannot safely be left alone during the day. Our parish nurse, Jeri Wilmore, provides this essential care, giving family caregivers the opportunity to attend to errands, appointments, and personal needs.

Community Storm Shelter

Our doors are open when severe weather strikes, providing a vital community storm shelter. In coordination with the Battle Lake Police Department, First Lutheran Church makes every effort to ensure access to our basement and restroom facilities during a major storm. The Battle Lake Police and Fire personnel have access to the building, and we encourage you to enter through the rear south door at 505 West Holdt Street in Battle Lake.

We Keep Going!

Noisy Offering

Each Sunday, we collect loose change from our congregation. With this generosity, we were able to send funds to support various community needs.

Battle Lake City Clean Up

Each spring, members participate in the town cleanup, helping to make Battle Lake the best place to live.  Afterward, we host everyone for a lunch of thanks.

Endowment Fund

The First Lutheran Church Endowment Fund provides gifts, scholarships, and grants through carefully managed investments in the ELCA Missionary Growth Fund, supporting God’s church and its mission.

Food Baskets

A couple of times a year, the Men's Club purchases food gift certificates, which are delivered to families in need.

Quilting Club

Our church boasts a very active Quilting Club, which lovingly crafts blankets for members in need, supports local churches, and sends them to organizations that help keep fellow Christians warm.

Scholarships

Each year, our congregations offer scholarships for attending Bible camps, participating in special events, and toward college.

So Much More!

The list goes on. As God's children, we support one another within our church, our community, and the world.
